Description:
This is the first work in the 'Another Great Self' series.
Color is incredibly important for artists for the emotional impact or symbolism it can convey in paintings.
As I have color-weakness, I felt that I was insufficient in my skills, so I have created this series to learn how to accept this,
both technically and mentally.
"Purusha" is a Sanskrit word that refers to an idea of a universal cosmic essence that's present everywhere in the universe, with themes of
interconnectedness. Under this concept, everyone can find their soul as a part of this larger consciousness, or "another great self".
To express this concept, I painted a figure with palm marks to represent the experiences that makes up a person, as well as a gradient of Vermillion to Prussion blue
to represent the passing of time.
By painting my greater self, I felt like I was able to see my goals more clearly.
